Berry Green Smoothie
This was a snack I made for myself one morning after my workout and many of our followers loved it, so I wanted to send you guys the recipe :) I am not one to do proper measurements, so I will do the best I can to replicate what I created. Enjoy!
Berry Green Smoothie (serves 2)
- 1 cup of a frozen berry blend
- 1 cup orange juice
- 3 tbsp of organic Hemp Pro Fibre Blend (vanilla flavoured)
- 1 banana
- 1 avocado
- 3-4 cups of greens!
- Granola - sprinkled on top for taste :)
Put everything into a blender (except the granola) and blend until just smooth. (To get the texture like in the photo, I used my Vitamix blender). Put into a small bowl (or smoothie glass if preferred) and sprinkle the granola on top! Its that easy!
I like putting this recipe in a bowl. Why? The banana makes the smoothie creamy and the avocado makes it quite light, giving the overall texture is similar to a yogurt - mmm. So why not eat it with a spoon?! Plus, I like having more surface area to sprinkle granola on ;)
Please note! This is a post-workout smoothie so the higher sugar and fat content is intentional! I want to fill my glycogen stores fast post-workout (hence the sugar) and help keep my energy high all-day and avoid fatigue (hence the fats and protein). Plus! The higher protein and fat content helps lower the overall glycemic load on the body, helping me avoid those nasty blood sugar spikes and crashes. Love it!
Ok, I might be a sports nutrition nerd - but can you blame me? I have been a dancer and athlete all my life ;)
